Making money on the Internet is hard enough when starting out without a bunch of people out there just waiting to con money away from beginners or those who push canned programs designed to separate the Beginner from his or her money.
So I sat down and made up this list of 5 things you should watch out for when getting started in Internet Marketing. They may not be scams, but they are designed to get your money. Many times there are cheaper or even free alternatives to these systems. Some may just be too difficult for Beginners to master. So, without further ado, here is my list of 5 things Beginning Internet Marketers should avoid when starting out.
Site Build It is a program that promises you everything you need to be successful online. The problem. You can get everything you need to be successful online for free. Of course, they fail to tell you that. The cost? $300 bucks! There is a lot of better places a Beginner can spend $300 rather than Site Build it, also known as SBI or sitesell.com. This program has been taking Newbies money for a long time. It’s not needed to get started making money online, so pass on it and save your money.
PPC advertising. Yeah, I know people who make a lot of money online with PPC advertising (also known as Pay Per Click advertising). This is where you use programs like Google’s AdWords to place ads on the front page of search results. The problem? It can lose a lot of money real fast if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s better to wait until you have some disposable money that you won’t miss before starting to play around with PPC.
Make Money Online Blogs. Blogs like John Chow make money by pushing worthless crap on Beginners. Most of this stuff doesn’t work and will only cost you your money. Other make money online blogs are run by Bloggers who don’t make any money online, but just recycle the crap that is on other make money online blogs. It’s easy for Beginners to get sucked into these money pits and come away with a bad taste for Internet Marketing. Two Internet Marketing blogs Beginners should read are The Keyword Academy and Make Money with Griz. Do a search for them on the Internet.
You’ve all seen them. Ebooks promising to make you rich simply by following a simple plan. It’s hard to ignore some of the testimonials (usually by other people selling ebooks to Noobs) that you’ll see on the Landing Pages. All the information you need to make money online can be had for free. It’s best to wait and find out the path you want to take and start making some money before you decide to buy these pricey ebooks. By that time, you’ll realize that most of these are garbage.
I bet you’ve seen the ads for software that promises to turn you into a money making machine overnight if you’ll only use their software. I’ve been making money for years online and I only use a few software programs that I purchased, the rest that I use can be found on the Internet for free. Any program for keyword and niche research, blog or website building and website analytics can be found for free online. Don’t pay for the stuff.
You can be the Newbie that continues to feed the Internet machine or the one who ignores all the hype and learn the real way about making money online. Just follow the above advice and you’ll be on your way in no time. It doesn’t take a lot of money to get started and most of what is being sold online today is nothing more than a tool to get the Noobs money.

I almost purchased SBI because of all the sales techniques they use, after reading an article similar to this I steered away! I can’t agree with you more! It’s $300 a year for one website and it’s really limited!
I’m a real beginner when it comes to all the codes and scripting of websites but I really wanted a good site to sell my products. I found a program called XSitePro. XSitePro takes care of everything, it’s got built in features for adsense, SEO, products, paypal, all sorts. AND it’s way cheaper than SBI.
“pushing worthless crap on Beginners” – haha, you hit the nail on the head with that one!
:D
